Memorialization
As we prepare our new sanctuary furnishings, we are also looking to acquire additional religious objects for the altars. Below are some of the items available for memorialization, which can honor a loved one, represent a specific intention, or remain anonymous. If you would like to financially contribute, please reach out to Fr. Dan at ddarmanin@arch-no.org to discuss payment options and the wording for the memorialization.
The six-candle arrangement on a Catholic altar holds significant theological and liturgical meaning, deeply rooted in tradition, symbolism, and the structure of the Mass. From a theological perspective, the six candles symbolize the light of Christ shining in the world and represent the presence of the divine during the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. They underscore the solemnity and sacredness of the liturgy. Historically, the use of six candles was established in the Roman Rite by the Council of Trent and subsequent rubrics of the Tridentine Mass, reflecting practices that had been evolving for centuries.
This tradition was preserved and adapted in the General Instruction of the Roman Missal (GIRM) following Vatican II. In summary, the six candles on the altar embody both ancient tradition and doctrinal significance: they are a visible sign of Christ’s light, symbolize the sacredness of the Eucharist, and connect to the Church’s rich liturgical history.
All seven bases have three sides depicting the Holy Family. Click on the images for a larger view.

Jerry L. Core: Forever in our hearts
This all-brass stand is designed to hold the Roman Missal at the altar. The bookrest features the IHS Christogram, a monogram derived from the first three letters of Jesus' name in Greek. The IHS monogram gained significant prominence through the efforts of St. Bernardine of Siena in the 15th century, who promoted devotion to the Holy Name of Jesus. He used the IHS symbol to encourage reverence and combat irreverence and sin.
At the base of the stand is an image of Christ the King, depicted sitting on His throne and holding a globe, which symbolizes His dominion over the entire world. This design also corresponds with the base of our paschal stand.

St. Claude de la Colombiere Statue
St. Claude de la Colombière (1641–1682) was a French Jesuit priest, spiritual director, and an important figure in promoting the Devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
Born in Saint-Symphorien-d'Ozon, France, he joined the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits) in 1659 and became known for his deep intellect and profound spiritual life. In 1675, while serving as the chaplain to the Visitation convent at Paray-le-Monial, he became the spiritual director of St. Margaret Mary Alacoque, who was experiencing visions of Christ’s Sacred Heart. Claude discerned and supported the authenticity of her revelations, becoming a major promoter of the Sacred Heart devotion.
He was later sent to England to preach to the Duchess of York but was arrested for his faith during a time of anti-Catholic persecution and was briefly imprisoned. His health declined, and he returned to France, where he died in 1682. St. Claude was canonized by Pope John Paul II in 1992. He is remembered as a model Jesuit, a faithful friend of the Sacred Heart, and a spiritual companion to suffering souls. His feast day is celebrated on February 15.
The new statue of our patroness’ confessor will be placed in the left arch of the high altar of repose. It has been hand-carved by talented artists at Casa Fânzeres in Fânzeres, Portugal. The statue features crystal eyes, giving it a striking and captivating expression. It is elegantly painted with oil and adorned with 23K fine gold gilding. He holds a book with the Sacred Heart on one side and the Latin inscription, “Cor iesu sacratissimum adveniat regnum tuum", translated as, “Most sacred heart of Jesus, may your kingdom come.” The statue of St. Claude de la Colombière can be memorialized for $5,000.
