“John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit” (Acts 1:5).

The Sacrament of Confirmation is the third and final sacrament of Christian Initiation and marks a period of maturation in the Christian life. Baptismal promises are renewed and the candidate receives a new outpouring of the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Through the laying on of hands and anointing by the bishop, the confirmandi are sealed and confirmed into full union with Christ. They are then commissioned to go out and share the Good News of Christ by both word and example. This is only truly possible, however, if the confirmandi have first entered into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Our Confirmation program is open to any eleventh grade or senior year student desiring to complete their Sacraments of Initiation. For more details and to register for Confirmation Preparation, please see the links below.

Dear Parents/Guardians,
  We want to thank you for your support of your child while he/she continues this journey in faith toward receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation.  Your child’s decision to receive this sacrament is one of the most important decisions that he/she will make in his/her life because the Sacrament of Confirmation completes one’s full initiation into the Catholic Church. 

     Here at St. Margaret Mary Church, we take the responsibility of preparing the young people of our parish for the Sacrament of Confirmation very seriously.  It is our goal to provide each candidate with the opportunity to experience our faith in a way that is life changing.  We hope that your child will not only learn more about our Catholic faith but enjoy each session while growing in his/her faith at the same time.

       We meet on Sunday evenings from 6-7:30 p.m. in the Evangelization Center (please see the schedule for specific dates). Our preparation sessions for 2023 will begin on Sunday, August 20^th immediately following our 5:00 p.m. Mass. This meeting is for parents and candidates.  

The Archdiocese of New Orleans requires that every candidate attend a retreat before being Confirmed.  The date of our retreat is Saturday November 4th.  IF YOUR CHILD IS ABSOLUTELY NOT ABLE TO ATTEND OUR RETREAT THEN IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO FIND ANOTHER CONFIRMATION RETREAT FOR HIM/HER TO ATTEND PRIOR TO THE CELEBRATION OF CONFIRMATION.  

The Sacrament of Confirmation will be celebrated on November 9^th at 7:00pm. More details will be given during our parent meeting

    The cost is $45 per candidate.  This fee will cover the cost of snacks and drinks each week and any other materials that your child will need (this does not include the cost for the retreat, details about the retreat will be given at a later date). No candidate will be denied sacramental preparation due to financial reasons.

    We will also need a copy of your child’s baptismal certificate.  Candidates will not be allowed to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation if we do not have a copy of his/her Baptismal Certificate.

         This time of preparation is also a time of discernment for your child.  We are committed to walking with you and your child throughout this time and fully support you both.  Please know that we, here at St. Margaret Mary Church are here for you and should you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to reach out to us.
