Racial Harmony

INTRODUCTION:

In 2008 our parish priest, Msgr Lanaux Rareshide called and requested me to head one of the youngest ministries in our parish. Based on my love for our BLESSED MOTHER AND HER SON I never turned this invitation down an invitation to serve, rather I felt obligated to respond to our Pastor’s call. However, for some unknown reasons during my adoration from 1:00am to 3:00am early hours of Friday mornings this call kept manifesting in my prayers. The very spiritual questions kept coming to my mind such as “WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR TO HELP IMPROVE RACIAL HARMONY AT ST MARGARET MARY” I have no doubt this was a call using our Pastor as an instrument.

In February this year 2010 I researched several sources and most importantly the Archbishop’s Pastoral letter titled “Made in the Image and Likeness of God” This pastoral letter turned out to be the cornerstone of my strength since this illuminated my enthusiasm for further research on the dynamics of racial inequality in catholic institutions, the schools and the church. Based on this frame work, responses to invitation to serve in this ministry within the last two years were fruitless.

“ARCHBISHOP JOSEPH RUMMEL”
Based on data collected it became evident that Archbishop Joseph Rummel pioneered the dismantling and possibly the extinction of racial injustice in Catholic institutions. For obvious reasons he experienced several oppositions including high ranking government officials who were also Catholics. Jesus calls us all to recall that we were all created in the image and likeness of God and He loves the world that He gave His only begotten son to die for our sins.

IF THIS IS TRUE, WHY DO WE HAVE RACIAL INJUSTICE?

WHAT IS THE GOAL OF RACIAL HARMONY?

Our goal is primarily to educate parishioners about the teaching of the SECOND VATICAN COUNCIL, and Catechism of the Catholic Church which made it clear that “EVERY FORM OF SOCIAL OR CULTURAL DISCRIMINATION OF FUNDAMENTAL PERSONAL RIGHTS ON THE GROUNDS OF SEX, RACE, COLOR, SOCIAL CONDITIONS, LANGUAGE OR RELIGION MUST BE CURBED AND ERADICATED AS INCOMPATIBLE WITH GOD’S DESIGN”
